Birth + PostPartum Doula Services in Boulder, CO
My name is Dia Ingalls. I work with families on their parenthood journey. I love to spend my time reading, cooking, gardening, dancing and singing. I am a devoted mother to my children. My family and I have taken many trips to India, to live and study the pathway of a Yogic lifestyle. I am always grateful for the guidance of my Teacher.
Some of my history:
I spent my years at university studying Pre-Med coursework. I worked at doctor’s offices, volunteered in hospitals, and even did a stint as a volunteer on a crisis hotline. Then during my final year of university, I took a yoga class. And I become aware of my body in a way previously totally unknown. One thing led to another and I came upon the realization that I would not be happy as a doctor. Even so, I continued to feel a pull toward the healing arts.
But when I saw my first birthing at age 23, I decided on the spot that I would become a midwife. It felt to be the perfect match for me with my skills and interests as they were. I spent the next two years training to become a home birth midwife, both in an apprenticeship role and through a birthing clinic in El Paso, Texas. I was given the gift of insight (again) and made the decision not to continue pursuing my goal at that time.
I studied massage therapy at Esalen Institute in Big Sur, California, where I lived and worked for about a year. I was then a massage practitioner for many years before moving to Boulder, Colorado.
While in Boulder, I trained to teach the Pilates Method at The Pilates Center and at the same time worked as their office manager. It was then that I met and married my husband and my work life changed dramatically with the birth of my first child.
While pregnant with my second child, I began having midwifery cravings again. I then traveled with my family to Tennessee, where I completed a Midwife’s Assistant course with The Farm Midwives. Ina May Gaskin and all the beautiful midwives there were such an inspiration. They helped me rekindle my lifelong desire to support women during their childbearing years.
